Thoughts of Abundance
A recap on “Think and Grow Rich”, by Napoleon Hill
I’m just thinking about what I read a couple months back, in the book “Think and Grow Rich”, by Napoleon Hill. It is important to have a mental picture of what I want to accomplish in my life, specifically:
1) how much money I want and by what date I will have it.
2) what exactly I will be giving in return for the money?
Many people think number one is very easy to do, and Hill claims “I don’t even have to be ‘realistic’ about it.” (paraphrased) In other words, it is just as easy to visualize a large amount of money as it is a tiny amount. Interesting!
Does it seem to you that when you start to visualize a large sum of money, barriers come up in your mind like, “that’s too much, or I can’t earn that, or some other thoughts?” Yet thinking to earn a small amount is like “no problem, piece of cake”.
I believe these thoughts, that are in the way, are what people have to overcome to experience the manifestation of acquiring wealth. You can visualize yourself receiving an abundance of money, but it you habitually think, perhaps and most likely on a subconscious level, “I’ll never receive that amount”, which one do you think is stronger? The 10 minute visualization or the 20 hour counter productive thinking?
It’s these thoughts that we have to manage and replace with thoughts condusive to our goals, and thoughts are what we have to overcome. George Miller, in his book “The Psychology of Communication” estimates that humans have thoughts at a rate of 7 +/- 2 per second. This seems like a valid estimate.
Using this figure, if we have 7 thoughts per second, in one minute it is 420 thoughts, and in one hour it is 25,200 thoughts. If you forced yourself to think 25,200 positive thoughts about receiving an abundance of wealth, in one hour, that would be a lot of thinking and you would be exhausted at the end of one hour.
If subconsciously in that one hour 25,000 out of the 25,200 thoughts were negative thoughts contrary to what you really want, don’t you think that would be a problem? Yes, it is absolutely a problem and the reason so many people do not receive what they consciously desire.
More will be discussed about this in my later blogs.
Have a great day,
